Neighborhood Quarterly Meeting Minutes

August 15, 2023

Officers present:  Mike McGinn and Mary Reed.

The Bellwood Neighborhoods Civic League was held 7:00 pm at the home of Cheryl and Joe Monaco 4001 Margaret Circle.  President Mike called the meeting to order.  The raffle ($25 gift card) was won by Derek Lavan.

Joe Monaco motioned to approve the minutes from August 2023 meeting and seconded by Marilyn Russell.  All approved.

Treasurer’s Report:  Not available at meeting.

Committee reports:

Hospitality – Marilyn Russell will continue new comers into neighborhood.

Entrance Way – Bellwood Meadows entrance will be included in maintenance plan as Bellwood Estates. Joe Monaco motioned to increase payment by 50%. Seconded by Derek Lavan.  There is report of entrance lights out at Walpole entrance.  Mike will check.

Neighborhood Watch and Block Captains – Cheryl Monaco will attend the VA Beach city neighborhood meeting to keep Neighborhood Watch signs posted in neighborhood. All block captains assignments are covered.  There are total 206 homes in the Bellwood Estates, Bellwood Meadows and Bellwood Forest neighborhoods.

Website – Todd is doing a great job maintaining the BNCL website.

Upcoming Civic League Meeting – November 14th is next scheduled meeting date. A volunteer is needed to host this meeting.

New Business:

Neighborhood Picnic in the Park:

A Neighborhood Picnic in the park (Bellwood Estates Park) on Brush Hill Street is scheduled. The scheduled date is Saturday, September 30th from 1pm to 4pm.  The big raffle is a 55” color television and other prizes.

BNCL will be providing Pollards chicken and drinks.  Volunteers are needed to setup and breakdown on picnic day.  All families are asked to bring your favorite sides.  Mike will check on availability of Slip and Slide for entertainment.

Halloween Day Party – Daniel and Julia Antelo, 4029 Sarsfield Street on October 31st will be hosting a Halloween Celebration party in her driveway area. The time of event will be announced.

Elbow Road Expansion Project – Mike McGinn reported no new information from VA Beach Planning Commission.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 pm.
